Posted in Uncategorized with tags forever lazy, Friday Fuckery, snuggie on January 14, 2011 by CbruhsI really take a shine to things with the prefix “forever”: Forever 21, “Forever Young” (the miraculous Alphaville song, not Rod Stewart, fool) and now, Forever Lazy.
Maybe you’ve also seen these commercials at 3 am after stumbling home with a mild case of the pukies, but the first time I saw Forever Lazy, I fell to my knees in awe and wonderment of the inventiveness of mankind.
Basically it’s an adult onesie + hoodie – footies + butt panel. This Snuggie 2.0 doesn’t get it quite right (what gives, footies are SEPARATE?), but it has my favorite clothing feature of all time: BUTT PANEL. Fuck yes butt panel! At last, my days of walking around the apartment with a blanket fastened around my shoulders with a banana clip LIKE A DOUCHE are over FOR-EVER!
And it comes in gender-specific colors like sessay “Hanky Pinky Fuschia” and manly “Workday Blues” so you won’t have to worry about turning into a Pit-Pat-like pansexual zero-population-growth blob. Plus it really brings the family together, ‘cuz everyone knows its no fun watching the game or playing with the dog in regular ol’ two piece outfits. That shit is so passe.
And the Forever Lazy isn’t just made for being a worthless shitbag in your own home, you can broadcast to the world how empty you feel inside by showboating it at tailgate parties, football games, heck, even weddings! The possibilities go on foreverrrrrrrr-err -er -er.
As the lady says: “Just slip it in, zip it, and get lazy”. Shudder.
Who’s up for a F(M)L bar crawl? First round of Sour Apple Puckers is on me!

That was him). Check out his music video, watch the movie, and wish you could have been Marissa making out with Olivia Wilde in Season 2 of the OC.

Friday Fuckery: Conan O’Brien Hearts Jeggings
Posted in Uncategorized with tags Asian Conan, conan, Friday Fuckery, jeggings, Mantyhose, meggings on December 3, 2010 by CbruhsJeggings! Treggings!! Pleggings!!! I’ve been trying to tell people near and far, that Jeggings (jeans+leggings — or, honestly, leggings printed to look approximately like jeans/trousers/pleather)…are now for the menfolk too! Especially since they are Tim Gunn-endorsed; and also a little bird (my roommate Char Char) whispered to me that the Uniqlo New York store recently introduced them.
Unfortunately, this helpful fashion FYI is oft met with confusion, dismissal, or disgust, if the person can even process what “Jeggings” are, and WHY. Really, people, Jeggings are just the superior cousin of Mantyhose (which BCB covered in January 2009).
Well, now that Irish Conan himself has been indoctrinated into the man/guy-Jeggings (Meggins? Geggings? Majeggings?) school of thought, hopefully legions of others will soon follow suit.
And he look damn good! I especially appreciate his fashion choice of highly pre-distressed, acid-wash Jeggings.
Jeggings: now for mens, bitches. And they’re suuuuper comfy! Plus, now we can see your basket’ n’ booty better. Everyone wins, especially gender equity.
Now if only Asian Conan would pull on a pair.
The Asian Guy Finally Gets a Happy Ending
Posted in AUDACITY, Uncategorized with tags dong-gun jang, kate bosworth, sngmoo lee, the warrior's way on November 3, 2010 by aznheartthrobWe are blessed here at BcB to get a lot of offers to promote films and even attend a few screenings. And I was a little reluctant to take a look at The Warrior’s Way, if only for the title alone.
I’m watching the trailer, and I’m thinking, hmmm, maybe. I saw Korean superstar Dong-Gun Jang, who I only recognize from Taegukgi, but I’m sure his other movies are gems (you know what I say, there’s no such thing as a bad Korean movie!).
BUT THEN I SAW KATE. OOoooh. Kate “my one blue eye and one gray eye almost single-handedly brought down the Superman franchise” Bosworth starring in a movie opposite an Asian guy? Is this going to be another Asian-Man-Don’t-Get-the-Girl movie, or what I like to call, a Romeo Must Die? Or will this be an awkward romance like Jackie Chan and Jennifer Love Hewitt in The Tuxedo? Who knows!?! All I know is that they actually kiss! Really? YEA! They actually kiss in the trailer. Its in the trailer, I swear, all 0.5 seconds of it, I even screen capped it for you:
It really is sad that we get all excited when the leading Asian man actually gets the girl (sorry Chow Yun Fat in The Replacement Killers), this should be the NORM! No promises about the quality of the movie though. More to come on that later, if I get a free screening. Did you hear that The Warrior’s Way publicity folks? IF I get a free screening!
Did You Restore Sanity and/or Fear This Weekend?

Posted in Uncategorized with tags cop killings, john t. williams, police brutality, puget sound, seattle, spd on September 10, 2010 by CbruhsI don’t know how much press this has been getting outside the area, but between the Seattle Police Dept (already plagued by a shady record of police brutality), and Puget Sound area law enforcement, there have been five civilians killed in the first week of September. Some wonder if the po-po have itchy trigger fingers since the cop-killing incidents over the past year.
One of the killings that resulted in much community protest was that of of John T. Williams, a homeless Native American woodcarver, who was shot because he was carrying a 3-inch (legal!) carving knife. Friends say he was also partially deaf, which meant he may not have heard the police’s orders to drop the knife.
While the ability to justify using deadly force probably varies widely depending on each of these situations, cops — especially in the case of John T. Williams — need to be better trained on how to avoid a policy of shooting first and asking questions later. A fucking shame.
Memorial Day and Chinese American Veterans
Posted in Uncategorized with tags Maj. Kurt Chew-Een Lee, memorial day, veterans, victoria moy, war on May 31, 2010 by Cbruhs
Today, hundreds of Chinese American veterans from the American Legion Lt. B.L. Kimlau Post will march in their decorated uniforms down Mott Street in NYC’s Chinatown. Inspired by her own grandfather — who was a WWII vet — Chinatown native Victoria Moy began a project to interview hundreds of Chinese American vets spanning WWII to Afghanistan. Read more on her candid and powerful family story, and the impact of military service and US immigration and foreign policy on the lives of Chinese Americans here at the HuffPo.
The documentary Uncommon Courage:Breakout at Chosin is also showing tonight at 8pm EST on the Smithsonian Channel. The film is about Chew-Een Lee, an 84 year old US Marine (also interviewed by Victoria) who is finally getting the recognition he deserves as the first Chinese American Marine commissioned officer (after desegregation of the armed forces), and was awarded the Navy Cross for his service in the Korean War.
Wounded at the battle of Chosin Reservoir after making a one-man raid on a Chinese gun position and leading 500 Marines and UN troops through a death trap in the middle of a blizzard, Lee refused to be evacuated and stole a jeep to get back to the front. While other officers took off all insignia to avoid being targeted by snipers, Lee donned an orange vest so that his men could see him in the snow.
Lee “totally identified” with the Marines’ reputation for being the first into combat. He enlisted to counter the stereotype of the “meek, obsequious, bland Asian.” In Lee’s words: “I would have kicked ass and done whatever was necessary.” Talk about Gangsta. Check out a preview of the documentary here. More on Lee at the LA Times and Washington Post.
The stories and leadership of Asian American veterans are rarely included as part of the mainstream narrative of US history. This Memorial Weekend, let’s honor their contributions and keep in mind the barriers and prejudice they overcame in order to serve our country.
Thanks Deeksha!
