I’m no fan of communism and the havoc it’s wreaked on people’s lives in China and elsewhere. And I will generally throw shade at “cool” nostalgia commie shit that hipsters and college kids wear flippantly and with ignorance to the realities of history — like red star bags and Mao-emblazoned paraphernalia.
But this vid is pretty much apolitical with the overdub, the syncing is well-timed, and it just looks dope. Notably that erhu guitar solo. Shreddin’ it!! MJ makes everything better, even vintage propaganda.
