I’m not even 30 yet and I can’t jump off the 3rd step of a staircase because the chances my right ankle will give out are pretty good. And I can’t play a good game of hide ‘n’ seek because the popping sound in my knees and hips gives me away as I try to crouch down behind a La-Z-Boy. Last time I tried, when I was still shy of 25, my seeker sighed and told me I need to drink more milk.
So I have to admit I’m both awestruck and jaaalous that this group of Japanese seniors have formed the cheerleading squad “Japan Pom Pom” — with the average member being 66 and the oldest member and founder– Fumie Takino – at 78.
These limber elders go way beyond Sally O’ Malley‘s “Kick! Strrrreeeetch and KICK!” routine. They also Dance! Jump! and Rock metallic wigs and lamé outfits with itty bitty micro miniskirts.
And Fumie looks dayuuum good for a near-80 year old. I would have guessed she was like, 48. Asian don’t crack y’all! Rah rah! Sis Boom Bah!
