Vice Magazine’s Guide to Travel: Monrovia, Liberia
We at BcB rarely give Vice Magazine any props. We’ve actually dissed on them a few times in the past. But when CNN is giving them props for a segment they did for Vice’s Guide to Travel this year (no more hipster/hobo train riding with David Choe), you gotta listen. The segment was on Monrovia, Liberia. An African country that was a US Colony, with a capital named after James Monroe (didn’t know that) where freed slaves were brought in from the US and created a slave state for themselves, eventually leading to civic unrest and a civil war and a “hell on earth” that’s happening today. Throw in a trial at the Hague for the leader of the country, and you have a pretty bad situation. For the full video, check out VBS.TV or check out the first part here:
