NERD ALERT: Gun Fu Comics

I heard about Howard Shum’s genre flipping comic book while in the indie comic writer/artist section of the San Diego Comic Con back in the day. Its not that common seeing Asian Americans on the OTHER side of that table at the SDCC. So I stopped and talked to the man and got to know his book, Gun Fu. The premise, well, Howard Shum’s Gun Fu website breaks it down well enough:

Gun Fu is an action-comedy that takes place in 1936. Cheng Bo Sen is a gun-shooting, kung fu-using Hong Kong cop. England enlists him as a secret agent to help battle the Nazis. Cheng also speaks hip-hop which no one seems to notice.

Yea, I know, it makes no sense, but makes perfect sense. But the art is ridiculously smooth (think Kim Possible meets Jackie Chan Adventures) and its nice to see a Canto hip hop speaking, kung fu fighting, Her Majesty’s secret agent, stompin’ on Nazis and gettin’ the ladies… Start with the Graphic Novel on Amazon, only $15, holla.
